Manny "Pac Man" Pacquiao vs
Juan Manuel "Dinamita" Marquez

"Many people think Manny Pacquiao is a Mexican killer, I don't think so. And on March 15 I will demonstrate who's better."

That's what Juan Manuel Marquez says in the video above. In English. (Even though someone translates the questions for him into Spanish.) In contrast, Manny Pacquiao goes beyond talking or singing (!)—in Tagalog and English—and is now writing for a tabloid. The name of his twice-a-week column is Kumbinasyon, which actually reads more like it was dictated to someone =)

Marquez was, of course, referring to his fight with Pacquiao on Sunday, 16 March 2008, which will be shown in Manila starting at 9 am on GMA. (Note: Due to time zone differences, the fight actually takes place in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Saturday, 15 March 2008, 6 pm.)

Anyway, the usual go-to sites are HBO, if you're in North America; and GMA's Unfinished Business, if you're in the Philippines. But you should check out Pacquiao Video, where you can view the full 30-minute video of HBO's "Countdown to Marquez Pacquiao II," see the list of venues where the fight will be shown on a big screen for a fee or free (all over the Philippines!), and read tips on how you can watch the fight online for free!

If none of these work for you, you'll just have to wait for Pinoy Rickey to upload clips in his usual uploaded-within-minutes style. And if you really can't watch the fight on TV or online, news updates will be available on Inquirer.net's "The Pacquiao Files," Google News, Yahoo! News, and Topix.net. Or you can check out what bloggers are saying on Technorati and Google Blog Search.

Finally, Pacland has the latest news about Pacquiao from different sources, plus information about all previous fights and a forum for his fans.

By the way, for the benefit of those with editor-itis—and search engines LOL!—PacqUIAO is not spelled PacqUAIO or PacqUIO.

Manny "Pac Man" Pacquiao vs
Marco Antonio "Baby Faced Assassin" Barrera

When Pacquiao KOd Solis right before the last elections, I wrote that, "Rep. Pacquiao will be making an appearance at the House of Representatives soon." Well, it's a good thing my prediction was wrong, and voters decided that Pacquiao should stick to boxing. But don't count him out because he hasn't lost his Will to Win.

The video above is the teaser for the upcoming Manny Pacquiao-Marco Antonio Barrera fight—dubbed "Will to Win"—on Sunday, 7 October 2007, which will be shown in Manila starting at 9 am on GMA. (Note: Due to time zone differences, the fight actually takes place in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Saturday, 6 October 2007, 6 pm.)

Here's hoping that the man who is now called "pambansang kamao" (national fist)—almost as if he's on the same level as the national anthem or the national hero—will still be able to deliver despite many distractions. According to USA Today:
While other world champions obediently line up for a few hours of instruction... Pacquiao has enough interests outside the ropes to keep several men occupied for several lifetimes.

Movies, music, politics, basketball, charity, family - they're all important to the Philippines' favorite son, and they vie for his attention whenever he isn't boxing.
If you're a Filipino or just interested in the fight, you may want to check out the following sites:

Those in the Philippines can watch the fight on TV via free-but-there-are-so-many-ads GMA. You can go to local theaters or other venues to watch the fight in real time with other fans for a fee (SM Cinema will be charging P500 and P400 for reserved and guaranteed seats, respectively). Or if you're lucky, you might be able to watch it for free in one of the cities where the local governments will sponsor no-commercial-break showings of the fight (e.g., the city of Manila).

HBO is the place to go if you live in North America and are willing to pay your cable provider's PPV rates. If you're in Australia, Main Event has instructions on its website. If you're in the Middle East or some other place where the Internet is the only option, you may want to try your luck with SopCast, which allows users to watch live events via P2P technology (via YuwonCedric.com). If this doesn't work for you, you'll just have to wait for Pinoy Rickey to upload clips in his usual uploaded-within-minutes style.

And if you really can't watch the fight on TV or online, news updates will be available on Inquirer.net's "The Pacquiao Files," Google News, Yahoo! News, and Topix.net. Or you can check out what bloggers are saying on Technorati and Google Blog Search.

Pacquiao KOs Solis in 8th

Pacquiao KOs Solis
Watch the video of Pacquiao knocking down Solis twice in the 8th round at Pinoy Rickey.

If there was every any doubt before, this just makes it clear that Rep. Pacquiao will be making an appearance at the House of Representatives soon. I just wish he wouldn't push through with it.

Manny "Pac Man" Pacquiao vs
Jorge "Coloradito" Solis

UPDATE 15 April 2007: Pacquiao KOs Solis in 8th!

The video above is the teaser for the upcoming Manny Pacquiao-Jorge Solis fight—dubbed "Blaze of Glory"—on Sunday, 15 April 2007, starting at 9 am on GMA and Solar Sports. (Note: Due to time zone differences, the fight takes place in San Antonio, Texas, on Saturday, 14 April 2007, 7 pm.)

During previous fights, there wasn't really much of a story outside the ring except for the fact that the crime rate went down to zero for a few hours, and even those who did not like boxing knew that the fight was going on. Well, this time, just about everyone knows that Pacquiao has also thrown his hat into another ring: he's running for congress. And even the Los Angeles Times has noted that it's just one more bizarre aspect of the "Pacquiao Circus." See "Boxing needs to hype-ventilate" by Bill Dwyre (25 March 2007).

If you're a Filipino or just interested in the fight, you may want to check out the following sites:

GMA is the go-to site this time for the latest fight news and the "Tale of the Tape." If you're worried that Solis (rhymes with "police") is too tall for Pacquiao at 5'10, take a look at what Recah Trinidad has to say about this in "Did Arum have to cheat on Jorge Solis' height?" (Philippine Daily Inquirer, 9 April 2007). By the way, as far as I can tell, you'll have to get in touch with your local cable provider to get the fight on pay-per-view. If you're in Australia, Main Event has instructions on its website.

Can you watch it online? Well, there doesn't seem to be any way of watching it via the Internet even if you're willing to pay. You can probably search YouTube using "pacquiao solis" as keywords, but right now the most interesting video available is "Jorge Solis - Pacquiao's next opponent" (Part 1 | Part 2), in case you'd like to see who Pacquiao is up against. And if anyone uploads clips of the fight, it will most likely be taken down right away. So our best bet is that Pinoy Rickey will be able to do it again on Dailymotion.

Finally, Pacland has the latest news about Pacquiao from different sources, plus information about all previous fights and a forum for his fans. And if you really can't watch the fight on TV, news updates will be available on Inquirer.net's "The Pacquiao Files," Google News, Yahoo! News, and Topix.net. Or you can check out what bloggers are saying on Technorati and Google Blog Search.

Manny "Pac Man" Pacquiao vs
Erik "El Terrible" Morales 3

UPDATE: Watch Pacquiao finish off Morales!

The video above is the HBO teaser for the latest Manny Pacquiao-Erik Morales fight—dubbed "The Grand Finale"—on Sunday, 19 November 2006, starting at 10 am on ABS-CBN and Solar Sports (pdf). (Note: Due to time zone differences, the fight takes place in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Saturday, 18 November 2006, 10 pm.)

I've said it before about the Pacquiao-Morales and Pacquiao-Larios fights, and I'll say it again:
Filipinos in the Philippines—not to mention all over the world—will be watching. Traffic in the country will stop, the crime rate will go down to zero for a few hours, and even those who don't like boxing will know that the fight is going on.
If you're a Filipino or just interested in the fight, check out the following sites:

HBO
Watch a slideshow of Morales-Pacquiao 2, check out the bios of Pacquiao and Morales, and read Bert Sugar's pre-fight analysis, which in my biased opinion favors Pacquiao. If you have HBO, you can also check out the schedule of "Countdown to Pacquio-Morales III."
ToTsuite on YouTube
You can probably search YouTube using "pacquiao morales" as keywords, but why bother when you can subscribe to videos uploaded by ToTsuite, who seems to be uploading everything he can find related to the upcoming fight. Don't miss HBO's "Countdown to Pacquio-Morales III" (1 2 3).
ABS-CBN
This TV station will be showing a primer the day before the show, and pre- and post-fight programs on the "most awaited sports event of the year." Uniquely Filipino features: "live reports from General Santos City, to Metro Manila, to Las Vegas... Europe, Middle East and Australia... featuring Pinoys eagerly waiting for the final battle." And of course, it wouldn't really be Filipino without the "text raffle promo." =)
15rounds.com
In case you're a die-hard Pacquiao fan willing to shell-out big bucks to watch live coverage, interviews, etc., on your computer; an autographed boxing glove; and a chance to win tickets to watch the fight in Las Vegas, then this site is for you.
Erik "El Terrible" Morales Fan Site
I think it's very revealing that this site has not been updated since Morales lost to Pacquiao last year. Have Morales's fans deserted him already?
Pacland
This website devoted to Pacquiao has the latest news from different sources, plus information about all previous fights and a forum for his fans.
News and Blogs
If you really can't watch the fight on TV or online, news updates will be available on Google News, Yahoo! News, and Topix.net. Or you can check out what bloggers are saying on Technorati and Google Blog Search.

Manny "Pac Man" Pacquiao vs Oscar "Chololo" Larios

Manny
On Sunday, 2 July 2006, what happened on 22 January 2006—when Manny Pacquiao beat Erik Morales—will happen again. Nope, I'm not saying that Pacquiao will beat Oscar Larios (but I hope he does!). As I wrote about the Pacquiao-Morales fight, "Filipinos in the Philippines—not to mention all over the world—will be watching." Traffic in the country will stop, the crime rate will go down to zero for a few hours, and even those who don't like boxing will know that the fight is going on.

But this fight will be different. The last fight was in Las Vegas, Nevada. This one will be in Pacquiao's hometown, specifically Araneta Coliseum, where the Ali-Frazier "Thrilla in Manila" was fought almost 31 years ago. Try to imagine what will happen if Germany makes it to the World Cup finals while it's being held there. True, this boxing match is not quite on that level, but that may as well be the case when it comes to Filipinos who need a hero amid the endless politicking in our country.

If you're a Filipino or just interested in the fight, check out the following sites:

Pacquiao vs Larios: Mano a Mano
This is the official website. Read their bios and compare their stats. And since this is basically a Filipino website for Filipinos, click on "Multimedia" if you want to download wallpapers for your cellular phone =)
ABS-CBNnow!
If you're not in the Philippines or won't have a TV at fight time, but you do have a computer with broadband access, subscribe to the video service so you can watch the fight live ($30). Or call up DirecTV and watch it as a pay-per-view event ($39.95).
YouTube
If you're wondering who Larios is, watch him talk about himself, get interviewed in Japanese (!) about his fight with Pacquiao, and see him lose to Israel Vasquez. And then there's the video of Morales losing to Pacquiao, and the full trailer of Pacquiao, the movie that opened in Manila a few days ago.
News and Blogs
If you really can't watch the fight on TV or online, news updates will be available on Google News, Yahoo! News, and Topix.net. Or you can check out what bloggers are saying on Technorati and Google Blog Search.
HBO
See photos of Pacquiao beating up Morales, check out Pacquiao's bio and record, and realize that Larios does not appear anywhere on HBO's site.

Yes, there are, in fact, search engines other than Google =)
