In "Pinoy Top Blogs: Unique Hits," I wrote that the fact that the top 2 blogs in Pinoy Top Blogs (PTB) "seem to have predominantly non-Filipino readers has a great deal to do with their very high stats." Well, based on PTB data as of 29 July 2006, and if you look at the current PTB rankings, no further proof is necessary.
With just one post, basang panaginip (literally, "wet dream") spurted to the 27th spot within hours of posting "The World's Most Photorealistic Vector Art" on July 29, and claimed the top spot in a few more, where it remains to this day. Note that several months separate the last post and the current one, and that a new post has yet to appear on the blog. What happened? See Yuga's "How far can Digg boost your rank in PinoyTopBlogs?"
It will be interesting to look at data by the end of August, but the numbers as of July 29 show the following:

- Unique Hits (UH) for the Top 50 went up from 1,163,557 to 1,266,865 (8.88 percent).
- UH for the Top 10 blogs went down 4 percent, with most of it due to a decline in readership for Rickey.
- In terms of This Month's Hits (TMH)/UH Ratio, Philippines For Men (5.07 percent) was the alpha male, while The Man Blog (4.53) joined Basang Panaginip (3.11) as first-timers among the top blogs with the highest percentage of repeat visits. Does the rainy season have anything to do with this? =)
- Nine blogs bowed out of the Top 50, 7 of which were in the 40s, so their disappearance is probably normal. But Access Pinoy Entertainment and Faces of The Moon, which were 13th and 17th as of June 29, respectively, are more puzzling. Did the former opt out of PTB or was it removed? Is the decline of the latter due to sparse posting or does it signal the decline of Pinoy interest in Koreanovelas?
- Nine blogs, of course, joined the Top 50, with the assumption of the Miss Universe Blog making it clear that my theory on "How to Rank Higher" has some merit.
- And then there's Pinoy R.N., which was at 37 on June 29, 10 on July 29, and is now at 29. What happened? The nursing examination controversy. Maybe a librarian controversy will help this blog... =)
