I started using Skype because I was told that it's useful. Well, it's been very useful and has saved me a lot of money because I can call anyone in the US and Canada for free—and I mean anyone, not just those who also have Skype. Note: Calls to the US and Canada are free only until the end of 2006.
If you're in the Philippines—or anywhere in the world for that matter—and would like to talk to family, friends, relatives, customers, etc., in the US and Canada for free, you'll want to use Skype. At least, until the end of the year.
It would be better if the person you're calling also has the software, but the new Skype 2.5 makes it easier to call ordinary phones. And if the person you're calling also has Skype, you can talk Skype-to-Skype for free no matter where either of you are in the world. Aside: It's just too bad that our computer at home is too low tech, so I can't use Skype to call my parents.
What do you need to do to get Skype? Click on the banner above, download the software, install it, and start making calls. It's that easy—but make sure you have a headset or microphone and speakers. There are other features like chatting, conference calls and even text messaging, but you can discover those yourself =)
